    Overview

This 6-day tour covers the Peloponnesian sights of Nemea, Mycenae, Nafplio, Epidaurus, Dimitsana & Ancient Olympia, before crossing over to mainland Greece for the sacred city of Delphi and the natural wonders of Meteora.

    See detailed program

Starting from Athens, the first stop is at the Corinth Isthmus, the canal that separates mainland Greece from the Peloponnese region.

The tour then takes us to the mythical Bronze Age citadel of King Agamemnon in Mycenae, with its massive walls and vaulted tombs.

After the visit in Mycenae, we propose a visit to one of the renowned wineries of the region of Nemea for a tasting session.

The day ends at Nafplio, with free time for a walk by the sea, or the multitude of restaurants, bars and shops of the picturesque city that in 1829 was declared the first capital of liberated Greece.
The Archaeological Museum of Nafplio and the 17th century fortress of Palamidi reveal the city's importance through the ages.

We then proceed to the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, renowned for its natural acoustics.

The day can be enriched with a visit to a traditional distillery where you can learn about one of the most well known Greek products, ouzo, or with a tour of an olive oil production facility at the nearby village of Lygourio, where you will learn more about Greece's oldest export product.

In the early afternoon, we depart for Dimitsana, a beautiful traditional mountain village where we spend the night.
Dimitsana's Water Power Museum awaits us for a guided tour of how the power of the Loussios River was harnessed through time.
Situated inside the Loussios Gorge, the 16th century Prodromou Monastery offers a chance for an idyllic walk along the river bank.

Lunch will be served at a traditional farm before we head to Ancient Olympia where the day sums up.
We are at Ancient Olympia, at the place that Zeus selected to host the Olympic Games, at the site of the actual stadium where the Olympic Games were held every four years from the 8th century BC until the 4th AD. A detailed visit of the expansive site and superb archaeological museum are on the program.

Next stop is charming Nafpaktos and its 15th century Venetian fortress, after crossing over from Peloponnese via the Charilaos Trikoupis bridge, a modern marvel of engineering.
From there, the route climbs to the southern slopes of Mount Parnassos, heading for the legendary city of Delphi.
This day of the tour delves into the rich past of Delphi, the city that owes its legend to the famous Oracle and its influence on most major events of ancient Greek history. We visit the site, the Tholos, the museum with the beautiful charioteer and many other unique exhibits, and then our route turns further north, towards the city of Kalambaka.
Kalabaka is the gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Meteora, an impressive field of rock formations whose name literally translates to "hovering".
Once remote and almost inaccessible, they offered the perfect location for the development of the second biggest monastic community in Greece. Today there are still six Eastern Orthodox Christian monasteries in operation, nested on top of the rocks since Byzantine times.

After taking in the breathtaking scenery of Meteora, it's time to start our return back to Athens.
